Atlanta, GA – January 4, 2017 – LYRASIS, a leading non-profit membership organization serving archives, libraries and museums with content, software and technology is pleased to announce the recent hire of Laney McGlohon as Technical Lead for ArchivesSpace.
In this role, she will focus on the overall development of the ArchivesSpace software application, manage a community-based code contribution process and work to engage a broader set of developers to participate in the community.
McGlohon comes to ArchivesSpace with more than seven years’ experience working with special collections and institutional archives. Most recently, she served as the Discovery and Access Engineer at Stanford University Libraries. Before that she served as a Software Engineer at the Getty Research Institute and as a Technology Consultant at the Museum of Ventura County.
Robert Miller, CEO of LYRASIS, says of the new hire, “This is an important new position for the ArchivesSpace program as we continue to expand and enhance the ArchivesSpace open source software and its community. Laney is uniquely qualified to understand both the technical needs of the software and the specific needs and challenges of the archives profession. By bringing together these two skill sets, we believe she’ll be able to broaden both the developer community and features of the ArchivesSpace program, thereby serving all those who use ArchivesSpace.”
Laurie Gemmill Arp, LYRASIS Director of Collections and Community Supported Software, says “We’re excited to have Laney join the ArchivesSpace team because her wealth of experience working with archives, her strong understanding of archival practices and data standards and her extensive software development background make her the perfect candidate to serve the community as it continues to grow.”
