It is hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since we began offering a large portion of our training courses live online. This pivot was driven by our members who voiced a need for more affordable class options. Originally, our courses were mainly face-to-face with a small portion online. However, as technologies emerged and our members continued to face tightening budgets, LYRASIS began to convert more classes into an online format to where we are today – nearly 100% of our courses are online.

Today, 20 years later, our training program is more robust than ever and continues to develop based on member input and needs. On average, we offer more than 100 classes a year with 1500+ students from across the globe. Our students and LYRASIS members drive our content and most recently, how we offer courses.

Probably the biggest change stemming from member feedback was the creation of LYRASIS Learning, our unlimited access service. Over time, we began to identify a need for high quality training at scale, allowing members to upskill multiple staff simultaneously without cost-prohibitive registration fees, and simplified billing. Based on this need, we created LYRASIS Learning to give members MORE training for MORE staff in a streamlined annual transaction. LYRASIS Learning provides students access to all live online classes and to our library of recorded sessions—over 200 classes. LYRASIS Learning is one subscription for unlimited access for a year so members don’t need to request funds for each class.

We work continuously to add more classes and partner with experts to create high quality curriculum. Our partnerships share our knowledge beyond boundaries point of view. Our partnerships include SJSU, IIIF, virtual copyright education center and Skilltype.
