As you have likely heard, the deadline for pledging your support for Round 2 of Knowledge Unlatched (KU) is rapidly approaching. The last date to pledge is February 28, 2016, and KU really needs your support to reach its goal of 300 participating libraries and institutions. Many libraries around the world have already made the commitment to be a part of Round 2, and we at LYRASIS are excited to support this very worthy Open Access initiative. We encourage our members to offer their support as well.
Knowledge Unlatched is a global OA initiative that is developing a sustainable model for the creation and dissemination of scholarly monographs. After a very successful pilot project in 2014 supported by nearly 300 libraries worldwide, KU launched Round 2 in the fall of 2015.
- Round 2 includes a collection of 78 forthcoming titles from 26 publishers to be published in 2016. Libraries are requested to support at least 6 of the 8 packages available in Round 2, with a minimum pledge of $2,643 and a maximum pledge of $3,891.
- Titles in the Round 2 Collection are hosted on both OAPEN and HathiTrust and are provided with accompanying MARC records.
