C4DISC ThumbnailLyrasis is proud to join the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications (C4DISC) as a member organization. Lyrasis also joins 150+ organizations worldwide, including several of our institutional members, in endorsing the C4DISC Joint Statement of Principles.

C4DISC is a group of membership organizations representing libraries, publishers and other stakeholders working in scholarly communication. Launched in 2018, C4DISC promotes equity, inclusion, diversity and accessibility in scholarly communication. C4DISC convenes volunteer-led community dialogues, working groups and educational outreach about the issues and develops industry toolkits and surveys. Its fifteen members include influential organizations such as the Library Publishing Coalition, the National Information Standards Organization (NISO), the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Coalition (OASPA) and the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP).

“Advancing a more diverse and equitable knowledge ecosystem is core to our mission,” said Lyrasis CEO John Wilkin. “We believe that scholarship and society benefit when diverse voices are heard, barriers to participation are eliminated, and policies and systems treat people fairly. We are committed to collaborating with our members and C4DISC to advance these goals.”

Lyrasis members’ staff are welcome to participate in C4DISC activities. To get started:
