Oxford University Press logoOxford University Press has launched a pilot program to publish open access scholarly books. Libraries have till March 31, 2025, to commit to supporting the program by purchasing one or more frontlist collections, enabling books in those collections to be published OA.

Collections

Three collections, each with 10 books, are available for libraries to invest in. The books are on Law and Social Sciences or on Humanities or are authored by Early Career Researchers (within six years of their first academic appointments). Learn more about each collection:

How the Program Works

Participating institutions will receive perpetual access to all titles in the collection(s) to which they commit, regardless of the extent to which Oxford has achieved its fundraising goals and publishes the titles open access. Titles will be made available OA immediately on publication via Oxford Scholarship Online and the OAPEN Library. Titles will begin publishing by summer 2025. As standard for Oxford, titles will be published under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.

A full title list (not yet final) and the Lyrasis consortial license are available to review.

Discounted Pricing

Lyrasis members receive an exclusive 10% discount ($3,150 per collection). Members that invest in all three Commit to Open collections receive a 20% discount (total price of $8,400).
