The Lyrasis Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP) is excited to announce a new round of funding opportunities to support Diamond Open Access journals.

What is OACIP?

The Lyrasis Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP) enables multiple stakeholders to evaluate and collectively fund Diamond Open Access (OA) journals. Diamond OA means the journal is published with no charges to readers or authors. OACIP provides an opportunity to support Diamond OA journals by curating investment opportunities and supporting informed and principled investment decisions.

OACIP launched in 2020. Thanks to many in the Lyrasis community and beyond, to date, eight Diamond OA journals have met their complete funding goals to sustain operations and publish in OA. Three other OACIP journals have partially met their funding goals and remain open to additional support. You can learn more about these journals and how to support them in the 2023 OACIP Supporter Information Form. In the meantime, we are continuing this momentum by launching the fourth round of journals in need of investment.

2024 OACIP Participating Journals

The following journals are seeking funding for three (3) years, 2024 - 2026. Learn more about them on the OACIP website or in the 2024 Lyrasis OACIP Catalog.

What else is new in 2024?

  • Organizations can support all eight (8) of the 2024 OACIP Journals through the OACIP All 2024 Journals Bundle.
  • Organizations can contribute to the OACIP General Fund. These funds are not dedicated to any one journal but are distributed at the end of the campaign to fill any funding gaps.

How to participate in OACIP

Any organization in the world — libraries of any type and size, library consortiums, academic departments, research centers, museums, funding agencies —  can support OACIP. Get started in just three steps:

Step 1: Evaluate the OACIP Journals

Review the 2024 Lyrasis OACIP Catalog or visit the OACIP web pages of the OACIP Journals (linked above) to learn more about each journal and read their responses to the OACIP Criteria Form.

Step 2: Consider your organization’s capacity for support

Organizations can support OACIP a variety of ways:

Support Specific OACIP Journals

Contribute to the OACIP General Fund

  • Contributions to the OACIP General Fund are not dedicated to any one journal but are distributed at the end of the campaign to fill any funding gaps.

OACIP asks participants to make three-year funding commitments, either paid annually or by the full amount upfront. Levels of support for each journal are recommended based on the type of organization and the amount of the funding goal.

Step 3: Complete the OACIP Supporter Information Form

Once you are ready to commit support, complete the 2024 OACIP Supporter Information Form and an OACIP Administrator will be in touch to confirm. The investment window is open through December 31, 2024.

The success of OACIP is possible because of the funding community that forms around it. We are grateful for your support and look forward to working with the growing OACIP Community to build something new together!
