Dear Lyrasis Community,

On behalf of the Lyrasis Board of Directors, we encourage your nominations of outstanding colleagues for seats on the Lyrasis Board of Directors. In February, the Lyrasis Nominating Committee will review nominations and contact prospective candidates, including those submitted by our members and community.

As you know, Lyrasis now has newly-revised Bylaws that were approved by the membership last year. In this transition year, we will bring a 13th member to the Board of Directors and build on the long history of involvement from across the library ecosystem.

This year, we seek nominations for four positions:

  • One (1) elected representative from an academic research library, Lyrasis institutional member
  • One (1) appointed Group Membership representative
  • One (1) appointed representative from the Community Supported Technology ecosystem
  • One (1) appointed representative from outside of Lyrasis membership

Each of these positions will serve a three-year term, beginning in July 2025. Our goal is to hold an election for the Academic Research Library Institutional Member position no later than May 2025. Nominations for the appointed positions will also help the Board in making the strongest appointments possible.

Lyrasis is a 501(c)3 member organization committed to serving the needs of more than 1,000 member libraries, archives and museums. Building on our long history of strategic licensing for e-resources, Lyrasis has emerged as a champion for Open Access, now serves as the organizational home for significant community-supported technologies, and has launched an ebook effort to help address licensing and ownership issues. You can find a more complete description of this work and the role of Lyrasis in the strategy described in several essays. The Board works with the CEO to shape the directions reflected in these essays, ensure effective use of financial resources, and, most importantly, to ensure that Lyrasis is responsive to your needs. Lyrasis is here to meet your needs, thus making your voice and the voice of Board Directors all the more important.

The deadline for nominations is February 21, 2025. This message is being sent directly to Lyrasis member representatives and will also be shared through other Lyrasis communications channels. We encourage nominations from everyone at member institutions (i.e., not just member representatives). We hope to hear from you and look forward to your nominations by February 21, 2025.
