This week is Preservation Week, an annual event from the American Library Association to highlight preservation in institutions, and reach out to the public about preserving their own collections.

You can participate in Preservation Week by attending an event near you – find one on the events map or follow Preservation Week on Facebook, they’ve been posting news of events there.

LYRASIS is participating in Preservation Week by leading events to teach librarians, archivists, and the public about preservation. On Thursday, Tom Clareson and I will lead an “Introduction to Digital Preservation” network for the Southeast Florida Library Information Network. I spoke at the New Orleans Public Library about preserving personal collections last night.

Remember that LYRASIS staff can also sign up for our preservation classes to learn more about preservation at any time – one that we have coming up that might be of interest is “Personal Digital Preservation,” on May 6.

Happy preservation week!
